In between bouts of image editing and hanging with my love, I make time to read some of my favorite wedding blogs.  I was pretty excited when I saw the article Ruffled posted about how to make your own soy wax candles as wedding favors.  I'm pretty much a candle addict; in college I got caught with a candle in the dorms... but only because it was one of those super powerful ones and my RA could smell it... all.the.way.down.the.hall.  So not only are these budget and eco-friendly, but so cute with the tag labels and coordinating paper covers.  I think I might go out and get some wax flakes to make my own right now :)

Because every post is prettier with a photograph...  Taken at the wedding of the lovely Danica and Arthur in downtown Kansas City.  I think this image is proof that all you need for romantic lighting are some string light bulbs.

blue ball jars vertical.jpg
If you're planning a wedding, you probably know that using recycled and vintage elements in your wedding decor is all the rage.  For example, these cool old blue mason jars that Valerie and Jon used in their garden wedding last summer.  However finding these jars can be tricky and/or pricey.  Here is a tutorial on how to make your own using plain glass jars.

Speaking of being green, my recent search for cool wallpaper led me to Olive Branch Green Building Supply in North Park.  They have all sorts of cool recycled and earth friendly stuff (did you know that counter tops made out of recycled broken glass and cement look just like granite?!  And you can buy paint that is actually clay?)  If you're kind of an HGTV and decor nut like I am, definitely head over to their shop on Wednesday, March 2 at 6 pm to hear Jen Guerin of HGTV's "Design Star" talk about color and how to use it in your home.

My wall paper project is still in the planning process, but don't worry I'll post plenty of photos when it's finished :)  And don't forget to say hello if you see me at Olive Branch next Wednesday!
